London Borough of Lambeth Office

Lambeth’s refurbished Town Hall and new Civic Centre provides 13,905 sqm of modern, highly flexible and low carbon workspace. We were appointed as client advisers, workplace strategists and interior designers working alongside the architects, our sister company Cartwright Pickard.

The new Civic Centre has transformed working practices, increased staff morale and improved work efficiency in new-build offices. Linked by a new high-quality public route, the architectural character of the Edwardian Grade II Listed Town Hall was reinstated whilst improving access and building services. This helped create a vibrant public building with meeting and workspaces fit for the 21st century. At the lower ground, a local enterprise hub now offers high-quality offices and meeting spaces to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in the area.

Both buildings are BREEAM Excellent certified and have cut the council’s carbon footprint by a third. The refurbishment of the Town Hall included the addition of mechanical ventilation and cooling to improve air quality and acoustic performance – the key to ensuring the health and wellbeing of users and long-term viability as a public building.
