Sydney House Grade II

The Conversion of two adjacent Grade II listed Georgian townhouses in the heart of Chelsea created a single hotel, with rear mews house.

This substantial adaptation of the existing buildings without resorting to a façade retention was a considerable challenge as each had been very poorly adapted in the 1980s and the conservation officers wanted to achieve reinstatement of the original plan forms, opposing the hotel development.

Working closely on-site with the officers and analysing key details we were able to achieve an extremely efficient plan with exceptional use of space providing all bedrooms with en-suite facilities, whilst respecting throughout the Georgian simplicity and detailing.

We were architects and interior designers for the project, detailing all the built-in elements and joinery as well as procuring all furniture.
